History of Holmes Stamp & Sign

Founder of Holmes Stamp Company Owen Holmes Jr., started out by making stamps in his Jacksonville, Florida garage. But what may have started out as a hobby, quickly developed into a booming business by 1954.

After thirty-one years of success in the manufacturing industry Mr. Holmes was ready for retirement by 1985. Over the course of his career, what Mr. Holmes had started as a stamp company had evolved into a stamp, sign, and seal corporation. Eventually the name Holmes Stamp was extended to reflect the change and subsequently became known as Holmes Stamp & Sign.

Mr. Holmes' son "Skeets" had worked at the company since 1975 and took over upon his father’s retirement. When "Skeets" retired in 1998, former delivery driver turned partial-owner, Bob Croft assumed ownership and control.

No matter how many years have passed, Holmes Stamp & Sign continues in its commitment to possessing an unbeatable work ethic as well as an exceptional focus on customer service.

Today, these values live on as Bob Croft’s son Bryan Croft operates Holmes Stamp & Sign Company with the help of over fifty dedicated and hard working employees, some of whom have been working for Holmes Stamp & Sign Company for over twenty years.

As a result of the Internet age, HolmesStamp.com was launched in 1999. And under the leadership and direction of CEO Bryan Croft and CFO Steve Fernandez, Holmes Stamp & Sign Company has grown to encompass over 10 different brands throughout Jacksonville, Lakeland, Miami, and Atlanta.

After decades of continued success, and an ever growing group of employees Holmes Stamp & Sign Company relocated to a new state-of-the-art 15,000 sq foot corporate headquarters in sunny Jacksonville, FL in 2008 and then proceeded to add on an additional 15,000 sq. foot facility 4 years later.

Over the course of the next 50 years Holmes Stamp & Sign Company will no doubt see vast improvements in technology as well as in materials and in the manufacturing process of its products. However, despite all the change that will undoubtedly persist, Holmes Stamp & Sign will continue to provide superior products at competitive prices, without ever losing sight of the values and principles on which Mr. Holmes based Holmes Stamp Company all the way back in 1954.
